For the Germans, it was ok to lose to the Spanish. But had it been Turkey, Netherlands or even Italy, losing would have been a strict no-no.

And that is because?
I can understand why Germans cannot lose to the Turks, but what's the deal with the Dutch or the Italians?

Holland and Germany are almost like India and Pak... almost. And I guess the Germans still hold it against the Italians for beating them at the last world cup. And, I get this impression that most Germans look upto France but look down in Italy... somehow they would rather lose to France but not to Italy...
